play around a lot
(Entry Nr. 161, by user 22 | edit)
photographing metallic, metal and or any other reflective surfaces, glass, crystal etc.... involves A LOT of tweaking to get what you want. in other words.... this is an important point: there IS NO FORMULA. you have to play around/tweak things a lot to achieve the final product (can grow costly with the polaroids...) that's why people specifically hire still life/product photographers, b/c they have acquired this knowledge and are very good with this.... there are other tricks though that could be helpful... try using matte finish reflectors, such as vellum paper to cut down the intensity of your light source.
